Weight, what's that? Is it new?

So, Rocketboy BROKE the bathroom scale. What the heck? How do you break a scale? I know what you're thinking, well he was obviously too heavy. No, it was probably just a cheap crappy scale but nonetheless he broke it and I am NOT happy.

It's ok. MCC to the rescue. Pure blissful vintage land. SO.  I find this hot pink....yes hot pink & gold to boot, scale for 3 dollars. The covering was peeling but hot damn it was cute. And I had a plan.

I peeled off that pink and gold...I wish I didn't have to as it was CHOICE!
I glued some hot pink felt to the surface of the scale, and covered it all with a clear mac-tac.

Then came the glue gun...(thank you ms.c)  O glorious glue gun, you burnt my finger, those long stringy glue bits are everywhere, wait, those actually may be blisters on my finger, but you embellished my scale in the nicest way. Gold baubles and pink rope trim.

Rocketboy says...What? I have to use that??? Yes, I said, please feel free to step on my beautiful new old retro hot pink & gold scale, if you'd like a private meeting with the hot glue gun.

Scale: 3 bucks, pink felt: 1 buck, mac-tac: 2 bucks, trim: 8 bucks. Hot pink & gold scale, wait for it...

It's here! My 1 of 3 long awaited Etsy purchases! My vintage Mele jewel box! It SMELLS like vintage goodness inside! It's a gorgeous robin's egg blue/lavender-ish colour inside, the velvet is in mint condition, pockets, little spots for rings & trinkets....you pop the latch and when you lift the lid the bottom drawer comes out! Oh heaven! And in true Etsy style, came beautifully wrapped with a lovely card! Here, take a peak!



Prior to the postman arriving, I was already having a good day, went to yoga, did my walking program, and made a card...nowhere near as good as my owl card, but handmade nonetheless. I did however get my Cuttlebug out to emboss the paper...some glue, some flowers, et voila! A card.

burning the midnite oil...again

soooo i picked up an extra night shift. call me crazy, go ahead. i'll wait...the upside of this pick-up is that my unit throws absolutely, hands down, THE BEST potlucks ever. it's a good thing this falling off the wagon week we had (& you know who you are i-just-whipped-up-a-cheesecake) is over and i sure finished it off with a bang. good eats on B2 in the still of the night. which truth be told, isn't all that still tonight.

so i got up early today, the boys & i went craft shopping @ Michaels and then we went and picked up my new toys: my cuttle bug,

and my quickutz revolution

i have seen them in action, buckshee has one of them, mrs cupcake has the other. i'm definitely gonna need to be schooled. but it was a steal for a new card maker, i say card maker, cuz i ain't a scrapbooker. the best part is, they were wonderful Craigslist finds. $50 for both and they are in mint condition.

cardmaking 101

buckshee teaches me a lesson! & it wasn't as overwhelming as i thought...i measured, i cut, i stamped, i distressed, i glued (well, double sided taped) i squealed! i did it! a lovely blue & brown birthday card for my dear friend Mrs Cupcake...i used my new owl stamps and thank goodness for all of buckshee's tricks & tips!

i've never won anything in my life!
i'm one of those people that is shrieking, on the edge of my seat when i do my scratch & wins. so close...everytime!
