I MAY have overdone it yesterday...

Ok, so although I'd like to think I am, apparently I am NOT Wonderwoman.

WELL...when the physio lady said that I could return to work on Monday for four hours of light duties, as in no lifting, pulling, twisting, virtually no physical contact with my patients, I could have sworn that she meant I was also cleared to start refinishing my furniture and do my garden. Yes well, I can hardly move today **tears** so I'm figuring that's not what she was getting at.

Wishing a Happy Mother's Day to mums everywhere.

Afraid to get started!

So, I purchased my first can of Kilz today, & my first can of Rustoleum....Espresso. A difficult decision. When I get the nerve to paint everything, I think I will start with the ugly purple end tables. When I get the nerve...

another weekend

T minus 5 hours to go. i can tell you though, that nothing at all in the world could have prepared me for this night shift. not even the 2 cheeseburgers my hubby brought to me ac nights. oh snap! they were gooood. but alas, it was the calm before the storm. and storm it did. never in my nursing career have i experienced a night like this. "but you get shift differential" um, ok, right.

it's 0225h, may 1, 2010. may. MAY. can you even believe it? i can't understand how the time just flies by. my eldest babe turns 12 this month, how insane. & i have all these plans, things i need & want to do...the days go by, the weeks, the months...i think this is my last weekend off for a month, so i hope i am productive with my days off.

i want to lounge, sleep, drink coffee, walk the dogs, cut Mason's hair!, cut Quinn's hair, lounge, sew, drink coffee, lounge, drink BLL, refinish some freakin furniture already, stay up late, FB, blog, lounge, exercise...HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA, drink coffee, lounge...are you pickin up what i'm puttin down???

my may resolutions are set, and i'm being firm on them. that's my story & i'm sticking to it. bring it on may!

So much to do...

and so little time. I know, I know, cliche, but true!

I have a million things I want to do! I have purchased all this furniture, some lovely old pieces, and they need some Rocketgirl love! Mr. Rocketgirl has even offered palm sander lessons, I've learned lots lately about paint & primer from Ms Cupcake, and listened to some lovely design advice on kitschy-ness & eclectic-ness from Rosie.

So where do I begin? I have side tables to do ( which might go to the boys, one for each, I don't love them anymore but they were such a steal), the hope chest, our headboard, Steve's vintage 1940's waterfall dresser and my turn of the century dresser & mirror. BUT, I really want to start on my desk...I've been spending lots of time at it!

and this is one of my inspiration pics...

I'm on the hunt for JUST the right shade of blue...LOVE the hardware. It's going in the spare room downstairs...which is already a soft yellow colour. However, it's going to get a quick re-paint, a bit brighter yellow. I picked up some lovely fabric today (FABRICLAND IS FINALLY OPEN! I'm proud to say that Ms C & I are members...lalala) in a cute blue print to make some window treatments...pics to come.

But alas, the work week starts tomorrow, ~crying little tears~ thankfully it's a short set...

Haaaaaaaaleluujah!

I STILL have one more day off to go! WOOT!
Have you been wondering what I have been up to??? Well let me tell you...

Friday was Trifecta day. The trifectess who hosted surprised Ms Cupcake & I will little goody bags full of crafty goodness...so we drank coffee, giggle, gossiped & crafted. I LOVE Trifecta day! It's pure bliss! I love you Trifectesses!

Saturday we took the doggies to White Rock beach. Oh my little heart was so warmed to see them frolicking on the sand & in the waves!

I also picked up my new/old desk that morning! It was at an Estate sale...10 bucks! Solid wood! Boy is she going to get a makeover...she is going in the spare room downstairs and she is going to house a lovely new sewing machine!

While that was all very lovely, spending time sans kidlets with the hubby, coffee & chatting...Saturday afternoon takes the cake! Ms Cupcake & I went to meet our new great, sweet, thoughtful, funny, WONDERFUL friend from Roses & Rutabagas. She surprised us with a gorgeous little gifty each...don't be jealous...we have to do some reporting back to her on it, so it's kind of like work! ;) We spent two hours there just chatting & laughing. Then I took Ms Cupcake to the VV Boutique where she scored a lovely little end table.

Today, busy, typical Monday...boys to school...I went to Rotary...2 miles. (LOVE my new runners!) Went to massage therapy...again, don't be jelz...it's not a lovely relaxing massage, it's very soft tissue manipulating...I hurt myself @ yoga 2 weeks back. As a result, the RMT said ABSOLUTELY NOT when I asked him if I could go to yoga in the morning :( Oh well, besides, I'm in pain....

I did however.....SEW! I made a reusable shopping tote (click link to see!)

And now my ass is firmly planted on the couch. The kidlets are in bed...the hubs is watching baseball...and I obviously, am blogging with my tea. Hugs to Ms C today. My thoughts were with you all day mon amie.

Dear friends in blogland, I wish you a restful Monday night!

i leap before i look

i don't necessarily think that's a bad thing. couldn't it just mean that you are impetuous and passionate? she was a good find, and now she is going to a better home.

wishy washy me

ok. so i had a brilliant find yesterday. i found it in the furniture section on the kijiji online website here in abby. it was being used as bedroom furniture, which is what we would use if for...a lowboy. it's super big & heavy and i need to get a better look at it now that it's home, but i can't! it's just so heavy! i don't know that i love it the way i love the waterfall dresser...i guess i'm concerned that it looks too much like a dining room piece. it's well made, solid heavy wood...did i mention heavy???? if i keep it, it will need to be the first piece i do...then i only need a lovely old large wooden mirror to either attach or go above it...and a storage foot bench ottoman thing...to refinish also. so, you ask, what makes this find so brilliant if you don't love it? the price. it was free. take a look at the pics i did manage to get and tell me what you think...

"she can't really afford that much"

happy weekend to you all. i just gotta say. working one day, then one day off, i could get used to that. the problem that i have been facing lately is that i don't feel happy going to work lately. uh-oh....i didn't want to feel this way about nursing. whatev. i guess this will pass.

many moons ago, when Mason was in utero, i refinished him a beautiful old change table. it was what i thought could be a lovely hobby...that never panned out. not the right time, blah blah blah. it's always been a wish of mine to have lovely lovely period pieces, refinished to my liking, done by my own hands....so i bought these

look at these cutey pie end tables that i got at the local thrift shop! 9 bucks! that's right!

i'm gonna sand them all down with rocketboy's new palm sander and paint/distress them a lovely brown, add some lovely retro knobs for the drawers et voila! new side tables for our bedroom!

and then there's this.....la piece de resistance! so far....

how gorg is that lovely highboy! best part is, hubby loves it! phew! so it will get the same treatment...sanding, priming, painting. i just need a lowboy, a mirror, a long bench and then i am home-making a headboard....just wait! see, i hate all the bedroom suites of today, and for an ungodly amount of money...cost effective, unique & gorgeous....that's what i want.

love, ROCKETGIRL xo
